Pennsylvania native and Penn State alumnus Lou Bordo stamped his ticket into the US Gymnastics Hall of Fame with success on the parallel bars and the all-around competition, collecting three medals in major national events. Like many of his peers at the time, Bordo’s competitive career was interrupted by World War II, where he served from 1944-1946. When the war forced the 1944 Games to be canceled, the National Collegiate Gymnastics Alumni Association named Bordo an honorary US Team member. Four years later, he competed for his country at the London Games.
