FRANKFURT, Germany, June 1, 2009 – 2008 U.S. Olympic Team bronze-medalist Joey Hagerty of Rio Rancho, N.M., finished third in the all-around at the Champions Trophy held today in Frankfurt, Germany. With a score of 88.150, Hagerty finished behind 2009 European Champion Fabian Hambuechen of Germany (89.300) and his teammate Marcel Nguyen (88.475), who entered the competition as a replacement for the injured Daniel Keatings of Great Britain.

After the first two rotations, Hagerty sat in second position in the all-around with second place finishes on floor exercise and pommel horse with scores of 14.875 and 13.825, respectively. His still rings score of 14.050 moved Hagerty into third place in the all-around standings, where he stayed for the remainder of the competition placing third on the final three apparatus with scores of 15.725 on vault, 15.000 on parallel bars, and 14.675 on high bar.

The event in Frankfurt is the first stop of a new Champions Trophy event series that includes all-around competitions in four German cities. The series concludes at the DTB-Cup, where the series champion will be determined. The next Champions Trophy event will be held Sept. 19, 2009 in Berlin.

Hagerty, who trains at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, was accompanied by his coach Vitaly Marinitch of Colorado Springs, Colo.
