ESPN’s Sport Science lab examined the science and biomechanics behind elite gymnastics in its latest “Sports Science” episode, which is available now on ESPNW. Host John Brenkus breaks down the balance, spatial awareness, and speed of collegiate gymnasts from the 2011 Southeastern Conference Championships. The video features the University of Alabama’s Geralen Stack-Eaton, the 2011 NCAA floor exercise champion; Honda Award-winner Kayla Hoffman; and the University of Georgia’s Kat Ding, the 2011 NCAA Uneven bars champion. Alabama won the SEC championships and went on to win the 2011 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics National Title. Both Stack-Eaton and Hoffman are former U.S. National Team members.
