LIMA, Peru, Aug. 4, 2019 – 2019 Pan Am Games all-around champion Evita Griskenas of Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, won the rhythmic gymnastics hoop and ball titles at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. 2019 Pan Am Games all-around silver-medalist Camilla Feeley of Deerfield, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, claimed the hoop and ball bronze medals in the finals held at the Polideportivo Villa El Salvador. The U.S. group snared the silver medal for their 5 balls routine. Gymnastics wraps up tomorrow with event finals in both individual and group rhythmic gymnastics at 1 p.m. CT and trampoline’s finals at 5 p.m. CT.
Griskenas followed up on her all-around gold with both the hoop and ball gold medals. She won the hoop title with a 19.800 and the ball crown via an 18.900. For hoop, Feeley and Argentina’s Sol Fainberg tied at 17.700, with Feeley finishing third via a tiebreaker. Feeley garnered a 17.900 for the ball bronze medal. Canada’s Katherine Uchida was silver medalist for both hoop (18.150) and ball (18.150). Tomorrow, both Griskenas and Feeley will compete in the clubs and ribbon finals.
In the group competition, the USA tallied a 24.100 in the 5 balls competition for the silver medal. Mexico took the title at 24.400, with Brazil in third at 22.500. The members of the U.S. group, which is based at North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, are: Isabelle Connor of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; Yelyzaveta Merenzon of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; Elizaveta Pletneva of Deerfield, Ill.; Nicole Sladkov of Vernon Hills, Ill.; and Kristina Sobolevskaya of Chicago. The group will compete tomorrow in the 3 hoops/4 clubs final.

The XVIII Pan American Games competition features 31 Olympic sports, plus select non-Olympic sports, and serves as an Olympic-qualifying opportunity in 17 sports.
