BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1, 2017 – Evita Griskenas of Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, and Camilla Feeley of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, both advanced to the hoop finals at the Baku (Azerbaijan) World Cup. Griskenas finished sixth in the all-around, while Feeley was 19th.
Griskenas posted a 17.100 to advance to the hoop final in sixth place while Feeley’s 16.650 qualified her in eighth position. In the final, Griskenas earned a 16.050 for seventh, while Feeley’s 15.600 put her eighth. Originally first reserve for the ribbon final, Griskenas got called up to the final, earning a 13.400 for sixth place.
In the all-around, Griskenas’ impressive sixth place final comes in a field that features Russians Arina Averina and Aleksandra Soldatova, who have been dominating the World Cup series this spring. Soldatova owns five World medals, including two golds. The duo finished first and second with scores of 71.250 and 70.800, respectively. In addition to her 17.100 for hoop, Griskenas posted scores of 16.000, ball; 14.700, clubs; and 15.600, ribbon; giving her a 63.400 total.
