SEATTLE, Wash., April 10, 2017 – Kaitlin Green of Cornell University won both the uneven bars and balance beam titles at the 2017 USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships at Seattle (Wash.) Pacific University’s Brougham Pavilion. Kierstin Sokolowski of Lindenwood University won vault, and Darian Burns of Seattle Pacific University and Brianna Comport of the University of Bridgeport were co-champions for the floor exercise.

Sokolowski’s 9.9375 captured the vault gold. Texas Woman’s University’s Mallory Moredock placed second with her 9.8750. Bridgeport’s Kimberly Stewart rounded out the top three with a 9.8625.

On the uneven bars, Green earned a 9.9000 to clinch the title Thomara Powell-Brown of Bridgeport and Anya Olson of Brown University tied for the silver with a 9.8500.

Green also took top honors on the balance beam, posting a 9.9000. Centenary College’s Ashley White scored a 9.8750, edging out Cornell’s Joy Gage, who received a 9.8500.

Burns and Comport tied for the floor exercise title, both posting a 9.9000. Stewart was third at 9.8750.

Earlier, Texas Woman’s University won the team title, the program’s 10th USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships title and its first since 2008. Majesta Valentine of West Chester University won the all-around title.

The nine schools tin the team competition were Brown University, Cornell University, Lindenwood University, Seattle Pacific University, Texas Woman’s University, U.S. Air Force Academy, University of Bridgeport, West Chester University and Yale University. Schools with athletes competing for an event or all-around title only were: Centenary College, Southern Connecticut State University, and University of Pennsylvania.

The USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships is for Division I, II and III schools with less than seven-and-a-half full scholarships.
