HUNTSVILLE, Texas, June 30, 2015 – The U.S. Women’s National Team Camp to select the 2015 Pan American Games team began yesterday at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, an official U.S. Olympic Training Site. The five-day camp, which will be led by National Team Coordinator Martha Karolyi, ends on Friday, July 3.

At the conclusion of the camp, USA Gymnastics will announce the five-woman Pan American Games team (July 10-26, in Toronto, Canada). The athletes selected for the Pan Am Games will continue to train at the National Team Training Center until July 5. The eight members of the Pan Am training squad are Nia Dennis, Westerville, Ohio/Buckeye Gymnastics; Madison Desch, Lenexa, Kan./GAGE; Rachel Gowey, Urbandale, Iowa/Chow’s Gymnastics; Felicia Hano, San Gabriel, Calif./Gym-Max; Amelia Hundley, Fairfield, Ohio/Cincinnati Gymnastics; Lauren Navarro, La Verne, Calif./Gliders; Emily Schild, Huntersville, N.C./Everest Gymnastics; and Megan Skaggs, Marietta, Ga./Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta.

The athletes vying for the Pan Am team will verify full routines and work to finalize their preparation for competition. The remaining athletes will verify almost full routines based on their individual training plans. All athletes attending the camp will continue to refine their technical execution, upgrade their dance preparation and participate in physical abilities testing.

The members of the gold medal winning 2014 U.S. Women’s World Team in attendance are: Alyssa Baumann of Plano, Texas/WOGA; Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre; Madison Desch of Lenexa, Kan./Great American Gymnastics Express; Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max; and MyKayla Skinner of Gilbert, Ariz./Desert Lights. Along with Ross, 2012 Olympic gold medalists Gabrielle Douglas of Virginia Beach, Va./Buckeye Gymnastics, and Aly Raisman of Needham, Mass./Brestyan’s American Gymnastics, are also scheduled to participate in the training camp.
