SARASOTA, Fla., September 21, 2019 – Fans can watch the all-around competition at the women’s 2019 World Team Selection Camp on Sept. 22 at 4:45 p.m. ET at EVO Athletics in Sarasota, Fla., live on the USA Gymnastics YouTube channel. The camp, which runs through Sept. 23, will have 13 women vying for spots on the six-woman 2019 U.S. Team for the World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, Oct. 4-14.

Two women withdrew prior to the start of the camp: Shilese Jones of Westerville, Ohio/Future Gymnastics Academy, due to injury; and Riley McCusker of Brielle, N.J./MG Elite, due to a mild case of rhabdomyolysis, which prevented her from preparing for the competition.

The selection camp will have two days of competition: the all-around on Sept. 22, and on Sept. 23, each gymnast will compete on two events determined by the Athlete Selection Committee. The gymnast with the highest all-around score on Sept. 22 will automatically qualify to the six-woman team. The remaining five will be selected based on selection criteria, including results from the 2019 American Classic, GK U.S. Classic, U.S. Championships, international competitions and the World Team Selection Camp; D and E scores earned at any official international assignment or national event; consistency; the composite strength of all World team members, with consideration given for potential team, all-around, and individual event medals; world-class presentation; and readiness to compete.

The athletes will be announced at the conclusion of the World Team Selection Camp. The six-woman team will travel to Stuttgart, five of whom will be identified for the team qualification line-up a minimum of 24 hours prior to competition. The members of the Selection Committee are Tom Forster, high-performance team coordinator; Tatiana Perskaia, International Elite Committee representative; Kayla Williams, athlete representative; and Annie Heffernon, vice president of women’s gymnastics, who does not have a vote. In accordance with the selection procedures, an independent observer will attend the selection meeting, and a written report will be provided to the athletes, coaches and general public.
