WORCESTER, Mass., March 1, 2010 – Gymnastics fans will have the opportunity to experience fun and exciting activities in Worcester, Mass., March 3-6. In addition to witnessing some of the world’s top gymnasts and rising stars compete in 2010 Tyson American Cup on March 6, fans can also watch 36 of the country’s rising female gymnasts compete in the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup on March 5 and take in the Massachusetts State High School Gymnastics Championships on March 3. All three events will be held at the DCU Center.

The week of gymnastics kicks off on Wednesday, March 3 as 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas, visits the AT&T Store located at 453 Park Avenue in Worcester from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to sign autographs and pose for photographs. On the same night, fans can take in the MIAA High School Gymnastics Championships, which starts at 7 p.m. at the DCU Center. Doors open at 6 p.m.

On Friday, March 5, 36 Junior Olympic gymnasts from around the country will compete in the 2010 Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the competition starts at 7 p.m. The Tyson American Cup, one of the world’s most prestigious international invitationals, caps off the week on Saturday, March 6, at 11:30 a.m., with the doors opening at 10 a.m.

Fan activities scheduled for the DCU Center include:

  • Tyson Fitness Challenge Zone. Kids can have fun and learn about the importance of fitness through the interactive Tyson Fitness Challenge Zone, which features cardiovascular exercise, strength and flexibility activities, and healthy nutrition guides. Participants who complete the Tyson Fitness Challenge Zone, which is open from 6-7 p.m. on Friday and 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, will have the chance to receive a signed autograph from 2009 Tyson American Cup champion Jordan Wieber on Friday and Saturday, as well as 2008 Olympic team silver-medalist Alicia Sacramone on Saturday.

  • AT&T Experience. Fans can enjoy an interactive zone featuring AT&T products and services on Saturday.

  • WGYM radio. Olympians Sacramone and Steve McCain, a 2001 World team silver medalist, will provide commentary and insights during the Tyson American Cup on WGYM, USA Gymnastics’ in-arena radio show. Receivers for the radio program are sold along with the event program.

Fans around the country can watch the Tyson American Cup and the inaugural Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup live on television and the web. Universal Sports will broadcast the early rotations of the Tyson American Cup from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, and NBC Sports will continue the broadcast live from 1-3 p.m. ET.
