Why does the cancellation policy apply before athlete qualification is confirmed?
Athlete qualification for Dev Nationals is not finalized until after the contracted hotel cut off dates. Hotels require firm room commitments by that date, and rooms released after the deadline are often unable to be rebooked. For this reason, the cancellation policy applies regardless of qualification outcome.
Secondly – historically, the Dev Nationals community has overbooked rooms initially and kept others from being able to book until very close to arrival and then rooms are cancelled and not be able to be used. By adding a cancellation policy, it assists in people analyzing their true needs and booking closer to what they will actually use which ensures that everyone who qualifies can secure a room.

What if my athlete does not qualify?
The cancellation policy applies whether an athlete ultimately qualifies. We understand families often book hotel rooms in advance to secure lodging; however, hotel contracts require commitments by the stated deadlines.
Are injury-related cancellations handled differently?
If a reservation is cancelled due to athlete injury, a doctor’s note is required and must be submitted to [email protected] for consideration of waiving cancellation penalty fees.
Please note that while J Team Management can request a refund from the hotel on your behalf with proper documentation, final approval is at the discretion of the hotel.
