INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Aug. 26, 2005 – 2005 Visa Championships all-around bronze-medalist David Durante of Garwood, N.J., headlines the five-man squad selected to compete in the 2005 Pan American Gymnastics Championships, Oct. 6-9, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Joining Durante, who competes for Team Chevron and trains at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, on the U.S. Men’s Pan Am Championships Team are: Guillermo Alvarez, Denver Colo./Team Chevron; Jamie Henderson, Houston/University of Oklahoma; Joseph Hagerty, Albuquerque, N.M./Team Chevron; and Jonathan Horton, Houston/University of Oklahoma. Henderson is the Pan Am Championships Team’s alternate. All five are members of the Men’s Senior National Team.

of the University of Oklahoma in Norman and Mike Burns of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis are the coaches.
The Pan Am Championships is gymnastics’ qualifying tournament for the 2007 Pan American Games, slated for July 13-29 in Rio. The women’s team will be named on Oct. 2 following a selection camp.
At the 2005 Visa Championships, Alvarez won the floor exercise gold medal and finished second in the pommel horse, while Hagerty was the silver medalist for parallel bars.
