Thirty-eight gymnasts participated in the May Women’s Developmental Team camp under the direction of 1988 Olympic gold medalist Valeri Liukin. The camp was held at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, an official U.S. Olympic training site.

The gymnastics participated in optional routine verification, where the gymnasts competed full routines and judged by 1988 Olympian Chelle Stack and World and Olympic medalist Chellsie Memmel. A total of 16 gymnasts qualified at the camp for American Classic and Secret U.S. Classic in both the Hopes and Junior Elite divisions.

The camp began with physical abilities testing. Alyona Shchennikova earned the highest physical abilities score, followed by Mailie O’Keefe of Academy of Salcianu Gymnastics and Shania Adams of Buckeye Gymnastics in second and third place, respectively. Parkette’s Megan Freed was named the most improved gymnast of the camp.
