SOFIA, Bulgaria (June 18, 2025) – Natalia de la Rosa (Woodland Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics) advanced to the hoop final on Day 1 of the 2025 Rhythmic Junior World Championships Wednesday in Bulgaria.
De la Rosa scored a 26.150 in hoop competition to claim the second qualifying spot to Sunday’s final. Akmaral Yerekesheva of Kazakhstan took the top spot with a 26.400 and Magdalena Valkova of host-country Bulgaria the third with a 25.050. The top eight athletes per apparatus move onto event finals.
Fellow American Anna Filipp (Porter Ranch, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics) took on ball qualifications and finished 20th with a 22.500. Yerekesheva also was top qualifier on ball with a 25.550.
The championships continue Thursday, June 19 with De la Rosa and Alicia Liu (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) taking on clubs and ribbon qualifying beginning at 3 a.m. ET. Visit the FIG event website for live scoring and all information about the competition.
