WG-2011.com – With the Closing Ceremony, the curtain fell on the 14th edition of the World Gymnaestrada. It was a week during which the gymnastics presentations succeeded one another at the speed of light, always leaving room for interaction on a human level. Fifty-five delegations coming from the four corners of the planet offered their talent, warmth, and colorful fireworks to the public of Lausanne, the region, and the world. Once again, there was magic! MEET THE MAGIC echoed at the diverse WG venues, in the city, at Beaulieu Lausanne, at the Sports Center Malley and at the Olympic Stadium la Pontaise. Cathy and Jim drew crowds everywhere they went, and were particularly popular with the numerous children who viewed them with awe.
One thing is certain: nothing would have been possible without the will and the skills of our almost 5,000 volunteers. We’ll never be able to thank you enough! Day after day you served, accompanied, and worked to help make the 19,100 gymnasts feel at home. Bravo everyone, THANK YOU, and good-bye! Here’s to the 15th World Gymnaestrada in Helsinki.
