Friday, May 16, was a most satisfying day at LIC for everyone and anyone associated with the Boys Gymnastics Team, past and present. City Councilman Costas Constantinides, representing the Long Island City / Astoria area (22nd District), presented two Proclamations to honor long term excellence in their gymnastics program.

This year, Long Island City High School won their third consecutive and 12th total City Championship. In addition, one of their gymnasts was awarded the PSAL Wingate Award as this year’s top senior in PSAL Gymnastics, and they led the city on almost all of the events on the PSAL’s Leader Boards on their website (www.psal.org) Ken Achiron has been coaching and teaching at Long Island City since 1978. He is also the Union’s Chapter Leader at the school.
