MERSIN, Turkey (October 5, 2022) – Men’s Senior Development Team members Matt Cormier (Milton, Mass.) and Joshua Karnes (Erie, Pa.) are set to represent the U.S. at the final FIG World Challenge Cup of the season October 7-9 in Mersin, Turkey. Both gymnasts will make their senior international debuts after previously taking on international assignments at the junior level.

The standout pair of Penn State Nittany Lions will vie for apparatus titles this weekend against athletes from 24 countries. Cormier will take on the floor exercise, parallel bars and horizontal bar fields. Karnes will join him on parallel bars and high bar and will also compete on pommel horse.

Men’s floor exercise, pommel horse and parallel bars qualifications will take place Friday, beginning at 7 a.m. ET. Horizontal bar qualifications will follow Saturday at 7 a.m. ET. The top-eight gymnasts on each event will advance to Sunday’s medal round.

The men’s floor final will lead off a full Sunday slate, starting at 6:30 a.m. ET. Pommel horse and parallel bars champions will be determined at 7 a.m. ET and 7:43 a.m. ET, respectively. The horizontal bar final will wrap competition at 10:50 a.m. ET.
