Gymnast of the Week awards are given by conference offices and the College Gymnastics Association. More will be added throughout the week as they become available.
Gymnast of the Week
Nathan York – Nebraska
York posted a 13.40 on floor, a 14.00 on pommel horse for second place, a 14.15 for a tie for first and a 14.10 on parallel bars to claim first. The honor marks his first CGA award of the season.
Specialist of the Week
Asher Cohen – Nebraska
Cohen recorded a 14.15 on rings to win the event and added a 13.65 on parallel bars for a second-place finish. The Nissen-Emery Award finalist continues to be a key piece for the Huskers, collecting his second CGA Specialist of the Week honor this season.
Rookie of the Week
Samuel Rakita – Nebraska
Rakita delivered a career-high 13.85 on rings to place second, highlighted by a stuck landing. He also earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for his performance.
Gymnast of the Week
Charlie Larson – Michigan
* Won the floor (14.200) and vault (14.450) in Monday’s win at Ohio State
* Has won both the floor and vault in each of Michigan’s last three meets
* Garners his third Gymnast of the Week award
Event Specialist of the Week
Carson Eshleman – Michigan
* Posted a score of 14.600 to win the high bar at Ohio State, his second title of the season
* 14.600 score ties the highest in the country this season
* Scores his first Event Specialist of the Week award
Freshman of the Week
Sam Rakita – Nebraska
* Scored a career high 13.850 to finish second on the still rings in a win over Illinois
Gymnast of the Week
Evan Reichert – Springfield
Evan took the event title on the Vault this weekend with a 14.2 and finished within the top 5 in each of his other events with a 13.4 on FX and a 12.8 on PH.
Routine of the Week
Owen Carney – Springfield
Owen’s 13.4 on the high bar was good enough for first place in the event against Navy, earning him the event title for the second week in a row.
Rookie of the Week
Garrett Alexander – Simpson
Garrett had season highs on floor (13.25) and pommel horse (13.3), earning him the floor title against William & Mary.
Gymnast of the Week
Jun Iwai – Stanford
Stanford freshman Jun Iwai (Dallas, TX) won two event titles to help the Cardinal to a first-place 322.700 over No. 8 California and No. 13 Air Force (Mar. 14). Iwai posted career-highs on floor exercise and high bar. Iwai’s floor routine was the highest-scoring routine nationally in the event this season, while his effort on high bar ranks fourth nationally. He also registered a 14.300 on vault. This is the third career MPSF weekly award for Iwai.
Specialist of the Week
Cooper Kim – Stanford
Stanford sophomore Cooper Kim (Grand Ledge, MI) scored a 14.350 to earn a share of the vault title and help the Cardinal to a first-place 322.700 against No. 8 California and No. 13 Air Force (Mar. 14). He also turned in a season-best 14.200 on floor exercise to finish as the runner-up in the event. This is the fourth career MPSF weekly award for Kim.
Freshman of the Week
JD Ehinger – California
California freshman JD Ehinger (Coppell, TX) made his collegiate debut as the Golden Bears accumulated 311.500 at No. 2 Stanford, with No. 13 Air Force (Mar. 14). Ehinger posted the first 14-plus floor score in modern program history, scoring 14.150, top-five in the meet and top-10 in the nation this year. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Ehinger.
Gymnast of the Week
Elliot Foster – Arizona
Eliott turned in another elite performance this week, raising the bar yet again with a dominant all-around showing. He captured the title at the Silicon Valley Invite with a GymACT season-high 79.2, the top all-around score recorded this year. Foster highlighted the night with a world-class parallel bars routine that earned an exceptional 14.6. Demonstrating his across-the-board excellence, he finished in the top four on five events, showcasing both his versatility and consistency. Foster continues to separate himself as one of the premier all-arounders in GymACT.
