He added a runner-up finish on the still rings (12.900) and third-place marks on the parallel bars (13.250) and high bar (13.200) with career-high scores on the pommel horse and parallel bars. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Fry.

Brown led Ari Force to two of the top-three finishes on that event, while it is the sixth-highest pommel horse score in the nation this season. The 14.300 is also the eighth-highest in Air Force history. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Brown.
Gymnast of the Week
Raif Schaffner – Iowa
Iowa GymACT made a very slow start to the 2026 season at the Windy City Invitational Jan. 17th. Led by Travis Raif Schaffner Iowa was able to increase their team score by 14.7 points at their 2nd competition the Iceberg Open Jan. 31st. Raif won AA and FE, but Iowa still finished behind the Minnesota Team 1 and Team 2. This past weekend Iowa bumped their team score a little higher to 290.25 at the SKI-U-MAH Invitational in St. Paul, MN. Raif again won the AA(75.25) and FE(14.00) and Iowa finally beat Minnesota 2! Raif also took 2nd on PH and 3rd on V.
Raif is a 5th year senior and as often happens with “older” guys injuries slow down their progress. Last year he had ACL surgery after a poor landing as he was learning a double twisting double on rings. As he recovered he decided that a triple back off rings might be a safer dismount. This is how his mind works. In his final year of GymACT competition he is beginning to realize execution is perhaps more important than difficulty and he is making good progress. In his last 2 meets he has dismounted from rings successfully with the double twisting double.
Raif and the team are anxious to meet several of the teams in our West GymACT Region at the Southwest Cup in Chandler, AZ this weekend. Thank you to Mike Burns for putting up prize money for the top 3 teams in the SKI-U-MAH Invitational. $900 for 2nd place will help Iowa fly to AZ.
