INDIANAPOLIS, April 5, 2021 – Megan Chu of San Diego, Calif./Emerald City Academy took eighth in the junior all-around competition at the 2021 International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament Sofia Cup with a combined score of 73.250, and fellow junior gymnast Rin Keys of Porter Ranch, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics finished 12th (69.650). Chu’s 17.050 in ribbon also qualified her to tomorrow’s apparatus final. She previously qualified for the junior ball final. Chu will be joined on Day 3 by Gemma Gow of Newton, Mass./Nelys School of Rhythmic Gymnastics, who earned a spot in the junior hoop final, and Lennox Hopkins-Wilkins of Puyallup, Wash./Evergreen Rhythmics, who will compete in the senior ball final.

Hopkins-Wilkins led senior U.S. gymnasts, finishing in 11th in the all-around with a 72.450, while Alexandria Kautzman (68.600) took 15th. Though only the two highest scoring gymnasts from each country were included in the final standings, Gow finished with a combined score of 69.500, and fellow junior gymnast Sarah Mariotti of San Diego, Calif./Emerald City Academy earned a two-day total of 68.150.

Bulgaria’s Tatyana Volozhanina took the top spot in the senior all-around with a 91.950. Volozhanina also bested the field in clubs (23.800) and ribbon (21.100). Poland’s Liliana Lewinska earned the junior all-around title with a combined 81.700 after posting the top score in both clubs (21.700) and ribbon (19.500) on Day 2.
