National Team Member Chris Young underwent surgery Monday evening at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo., to repair a right Achilles tendon, injured during a training session Friday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Young was practicing a tumbling pass into the training pit.

Young’s doctors estimate that recovery will require between four to six months of rehabilitation. U.S. Olympic Training Center Coach Ron Brant said that Young is in good spirits after surgery.
“We are very hopeful that Chris will return in time for Sydney,” said USA Gymnastics President Bob Colarossi. “USA Gymnastics will support him as much as possible on the road to recovery.”
