Liang Chow, head coach of world champion Shawn Johnson and owner of Chow’s Gymnastics in West Des Moines, Iowa, was named an honoree of the Goodyear "Get there" Award. The ‘Get there’ Award is a recognition program designed to honor those most responsible for helping American athletes achieve their dream of competing on the world’s greatest stage in China. The program highlights the often little-known stories of those people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help America’s athletes achieve their goals.
Liang Qiao Chow has coached Shawn Johnson since she began gymnastics, helping her reach the pinnacle of the sport. Thanks in large part to Chow, Johnson today is the reigning all-around world champion, as well as the world floor exercise champ. Chow managed to keep Shawn focused and ready to compete despite the fact that his gym flooded during the Iowa flooding disaster the week before the Olympic Trials.
