INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 4, 2012 – Alex Buscaglia of Stanford, Calif./Stanford University, and Steven Legendre of Norman, Okla./Team Hilton HHonors (University of Oklahoma), have been selected to compete for Team USA at the 2012 Olympic Test Event in London. Competition is set to begin on Jan. 10.
The duo replaces Chris Brooks of Houston/Team Hilton HHonors (Cypress Gymnastics), and Sam Mikulak of Ann Arbor, Mich./University of Michigan. Both Brooks and Mikulak recently suffered minor injuries and have chosen to withdraw from the event in order to minimize the risk of further injury in the Olympic year.
The Olympic Test Event serves as a second qualifying event to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Team USA has already qualified athletes in men’s and women’s gymnastics and women’s trampoline. For rhythmic gymnastics and men’s trampoline, the USA will be seeking to qualify for the Olympic Games at the Test Event.
