INDIANAPOLIS, May 9, 2018 – Brigita Budginas of Agoura Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics, won gold in the clubs final and claimed two individual event bronze medals over the weekend at the Portimao (Portugal) International Tournament. Annaliese Dragan of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Irene School of Rhythmic Gymnastics, was the junior clubs bronze medalist.

For the senior competition, Budginas struck gold in the clubs final with her score of 15.700. Portugal’s Margarida Ferreira and Laura Sales tied for second with matching scores of 15.350. Budginas added two bronze medals in the hoop and ball finals with scores of 14.550 and 14.850, respectively, and finished fourth in ribbon (13.600). In the all-around, Budginas, who placed fourth, posted a 54.600 total with scores of 13.800, hoop; 13.300, ball; 14.950, clubs, and 12.550, ribbon. Russia’s Daria Pridanniova won the all-around (63.350) and ball (16.450) titles, while Sales topped the standings in the hoop (16.350) and ribbon (14.900) events.

Dragan tallied a 14.600 in the junior clubs final to clinch the bronze medal. She also advanced to the ball and ribbon finals, placing fifth and sixth, respectively. Dragan scored a 54.900 in the all-around to finish in ninth place. USA’s Isabella Pappas of Canton, Mass./Rhythmic Stars Gymnastics Academy placed sixth in the hoop final (11.450). The junior champions were: all-around, hoop and ball – Sofya Agafonova of Russia; clubs – Shani Kataev of Israel; and ribbon – Anastasia Simkova of Russia.
