SHREVEPORT, La., April 13, 2013 – The University of Bridgeport captured its fifth-straight USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships team title tonight at Centenary College’s Gold Dome in Shreveport, La. Texas Woman’s University finished second, while host Centenary rounded out the podium in third position. The competition concludes with individual event finals on Sunday.

Bridgeport posted an impressive 196.500, followed by TWU’s 194.800. Centenary scored 193.975 for third, and Brown finished fourth, earning 193.575.

The top five finishers (including ties) in each event from Friday’s qualification sessions advanced to tomorrow’s event finals, which will begin at 1 p.m. CT.

The eight schools competing in the team competition are: U.S. Air Force Academy, Texas Woman’s University, Brown University, Cornell University, Seattle Pacific University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Bridgeport and host Centenary. Schools with athletes competing for an event or all-around title only are: Lindenwood University, Southern Connecticut State University, Temple University, West Chester University and Yale University.

The USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships is for Division I, II and III schools with less than seven-and-a-half full scholarships.
