AROSA, Switzerland, June 21, 2008 – Erin Blanchard and Alaina Hebert, both of Lafayette, La./ U.S. Olympic Training Center Trampoline Team, claimed the USA’s first World Cup gold medal in synchronized trampoline at the 45th Nissen Cup in Arosa, Switzerland.
Blanchard and Hebert finished with a total score of 46.90, followed by Russia’s Anastasia Velichko and Viktoria Voronina in second with a 45.40 and Belarus’ Tatiana Petrenia and Ekatarina Mironova in third with a 44.80. The U.S. men’s synchronized trampoline team of Chris Estrada of Colorado Springs, Colo./ U.S. OTC Trampoline Team, and Michael Devine of Winnebago, Ill./J & J Trampoline and Tumbling, finished sixth.
Three men and three women competed for the USA in individual trampoline. Blanchard and Hebert finished 10th and 13th, respectively, for the women, and the highest U.S. men’s finisher was Estrada in 18th. Also competing for the USA in individual trampoline were: women – Alaina Williams of Amarillo, Texas/ U.S. OTC Trampoline Team; and men – Logan Dooley of Lake Forest, Calif./ us OTC Trampoline Team, and Devine.
