INDIANAPOLIS – Olympic silver medalist Mohini Bhardwaj announced on Monday her intention to withdraw from the 2005 American Cup, Feb. 25-26 at Nassau Coliseum in New York.

Bhardwaj, 25, said her post-Olympic recovery has taken a little longer than expected considering all the factors involved.
“After having been on the road a lot since the Olympic Games, along with appearances lately, moving to Colorado Springs , and then having a severe cold for the past few weeks, my training is just not where I want it to be this early in the season, especially for a debut at a World Cup event,” Bhardwaj said. “I would rather step aside and allow somebody more prepared to go compete, who has a definite shot to bring back a medal.”

Bhardwaj’s replacement, along with the final U.S. Women’s Roster, will be announced on Tuesday following verification at the Women’s National Team Training Camp currently being conducted at the Women’s National Team Training Center near Huntsville, Texas.
