INDIANAPOLIS – More than 50 rhythmic athletes punched their tickets to the 2023 USA Gymnastics Championships’ elite competition at last weekend’s 2023 Elite Qualifier in Indianapolis.

Newly minted senior Jaelyn Chin (Aventura, Fla./Bessonova’s school) led in all-around competition at the qualifier with a combined 125.900. Alexandria Kautzman (Simi Valley, Calif./California Rhythms) scored a 124.950 to take second just ahead of Yana Golovan (Las Vegas, Nev./Nevada Rhythmic Academy), who was third with a 124.900. In apparatus competition, Chin had the highest score on ball (33.100) and ribbon (31.350) while Kautzman topped the hoop (33.100) and clubs (33.750) standings.

Rin Keys (Porter Ranch, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics) claimed the top spot among the juniors with a combined 125.000 all-around ahead of Megan Chu (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) and Isabella Chong (Mission Viejo, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics), who were second and third, respectively with scores of 121.350 and 119.050. Keys also notched the top scores on each apparatus, including hoop (32.350), ball (32.100), clubs (31.000) and ribbon (29.550).

In group competition, the North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center (NSR) group of Goda Balsys (Northbrook, Ill.), Annabella Hantov (Northfield, Ill.), Kristina Lee (Woodridge, Ill.), Greta Pavilonyte (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) and Alaini Spata (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) led with a 46.500. The group from Liberty Academy of Rhythmic Gymnastics qualified in second with 44.800 and the second NSR group was third with a 41.900.

The top 25 junior and senior athletes and top three junior groups all-around, excluding the seniors who have already qualified, advanced to elite competition at the 2023 USA Gymnastics Championships June 22-24 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The next 25 junior and senior gymnasts qualified to Level 10 competition at the championships.
