ASUNCIÓN, Par. (May 22, 2025) – American rhythmic athletes claimed top qualifying spots on the first day of the 2025 Junior Pan American Championships in Paraguay.

Natalia de la Rosa (Woodland Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics) and Dawn Kim (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) claimed the top two spots in hoop and ball qualifying to advance to Saturday’s final. De la Rosa was first in both hoop (26.750) and ball (25.200) followed by Kim in second with a 25.550 in hoop and 24.300 in ball. In the all-around, De la Rosa currently sits at the top with a 51.950, with Kim just behind in second with a 49.850.

Anna Filipp (Porter Ranch, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics) was third on ball (23.950) and Alicia Liu (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) was fourth on hoop (24.600), but neither will advance due to the two-per-country rule.

In the Pan Am Tournament, Varvara Poniatovskaya (Las Vegas, Nev./ Nevada Rhythmic Academy) advanced to finals after leading all competitors in hoop qualifications with a 23.600 and ranking second in ball qualifying with a 22.750. Valerie Magduke (Brooklyn, N.Y./Isadora by Matchpoint) is set to take the floor for qualifying on Friday.

Competition continues Friday, May 23 with individual and group qualifications followed by the crowning of all-around and team champions.
