GUATEMALA CITY, Gua. (June 6, 2024) – American juniors were on top of their game Thursday, winning three gold medals and one silver and topping apparatus qualifications at the 2024 Rhythmic Pan American Championships and Tournament in Guatemala City.

The U.S. delegation collected two team titles on Thursday in both Championships and Tournament competition. The team of Isabella Chong (Mission Viejo, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics), Natalia de la Rosa (Woodland Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics), Alicia Liu (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) and Dawn Kim (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) won junior gold with a 293.150 ahead of Brazil (271.350) and Canada (268.600).

In tournament competition, Josephine Weber (Woodland Hills, Calif./Rhythmic Academy of Los Angeles) and Riko Kawai (Los Angeles, Calif./Rhythmic Academy of Los Angeles) combined for 110.450 to top the team podium. Canada was second (105.050) and Brazil third (101.350).

De la Rosa led all juniors at the Championships, winning all-around gold with a 119.000 and advancing to all apparatus finals. She earned the top qualifying spot on hoop (30.050), clubs (29.700) and ribbon (28.700) and the second spot on ball (30.550). Chong was the all-around silver medalist (112.400), also qualifying in No. 1 on ball (30.700) and No. 2 on hoop (29.800) and ribbon (28.100). Kim will move onto the clubs final after ranking sixth with a 26.600. Due to the two-per-country rule, Liu did not advance to event final competition.

In the 13-year-old division, Weber put up the highest scores on hoop (27.800) and ball (26.900) to qualify to Friday’s finals, while Kawai was first on clubs (29.250) and second on ribbon (26.500) to do the same.

The junior group of Claire Glukhovsky (West Hills, Calif.), Sasha Kuliyev (Granada hills, Calif.), Joy Lee (Henderson, Nev.), Natalia Serobian (Glendale, Calif.), Aurora Sullivan (Los Angeles, CA) and Katerina Levit (Granada hills, Calif.) advanced to the five hoops final in second with a 27.600.

The Rhythmic Pan Am Championships continue Friday with junior individual event finals and group qualifications, while seniors also take the floor for the first time. Fans can follow results throughout the competition here and watch the event live on the PAGU YouTube channel.
