CHICAGO – Beth Horn, a former collegiate gymnast who now plays "Venom" on NBC’s American Gladiator, visited three Chicago Park District gymnastics clubs on Jan. 29 to talk with local gymnasts about the importance of fitness and the Tyson Fitness Challenge, a local six-week fitness initiative geared to help today’s youth achieve active lifestyles. Horn visited Avondale Park, Broadway Armory Park and Shabbona Park, all three of which are hosting the Tyson Fitness Challenge.

USA Gymnastics partnered with Chicago 2016, World Sport Chicago and the Chicago Park District to hold the community-based activity to help promote the upcoming Tyson American Cup, scheduled for Feb. 21 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The Tyson Fitness Challenge also supports Chicago 2016’s efforts to enhance youth sport programming through its legacy organization, World Sport Chicago, and its bid for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Horn was a collegiate gymnast at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and now lives in Chicago. In addition to her role on American Gladiator, she has written a book on nutrition and fitness and is a personal trainer, fitness champion and model.
