COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., March 30, 2018 – For the ninth-straight year, the U.S. Air Force Academy won the Varsity Division team title at the USA Gymnastics Men’s Collegiate National Championships, held at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. In the Collegiate Club Division, Arizona State University claimed its 12th consecutive team title. The all-around titles went to Air Force’s Jonah Urlaub for the Varsity Division and ASU’s Kiwan Watts for the Collegiate Division. Competition wraps up with the event finals on March 31.

Air Force claimed the varsity team title with a 396.400 total. The College of William & Mary took second, scoring a 388.750. The U.S. Naval Academy tallied a 388.700 for third. In the Club Division, Arizona State posted a 393.350 total for top honors. The University of Washington and Southern California United were second (370.700) and third (336.500), respectively.

In the varsity all-around, Urlaub won the title with a 79.700, followed by Springfield College’s Stephen Lewis in second at 75.900. William and Mary’s Jack Hasenkopf earned third with his 74.900. Watt, who scored the highest total for the event, easily captured the Collegiate Division’s all-around title by posting an 80.000 total. Watt’s teammate Nikita Latman snared second (76.350). Defending champion NathanTsuji rounded out the award podium in third place (75.100).

At the men’s USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships, the team competition is divided into two categories, varsity and collegiate. The varsity competition is for Division I, II or III, four-year institutions with gymnastics as a varsity sport that provide two or less full scholarships as well as the military academies, and the collegiate team category is for two-year or four-year degree-granting schools with gymnastics as a club sport. The schools in the Collegiate Division were the College of William and Mary, Springfield College, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Naval Academy. The Collegiate Division includes Arizona State University, Northern California United, Southern California United, Temple University and University of Washington.
