BAYTOWN, Texas – Feb. 2, 2018 – The first of two days at acrobatic gymnastics’ World Team Trials event wrapped up earlier today at the Texas Academy of Acrobatics and Gymnastics (TAAG) in Baytown, Texas. The event wraps up Saturday with final routines. The 2018 U.S. Team for the 2018 World Championships and World Age Group Competition will be announced on Sunday, Feb. 4. Antwerp, Belgium, is staging this year’s World Championships, April 13-15 in Antwerp, Belgium, and World Age-Group Competition, April 4-10.

Competition is held for seniors, juniors (12-18 and 13-19) and age-group competition (11-16). The seniors and juniors performed balance and dynamic routines on Friday, and complete the competition on Sunday with a combined exercise. The 11-16 age-group compete only two exercises, one balance and one dynamic, over the two days.

The members of the World Championships and World Age-Group Competition are determined in accordance with the appropriate selection procedures, which are available here. The selection procedures outline the criteria and other requirements for selection to the team, including targeted scores, automatic selection, and discretionary criteria.
