HUNTSVILLE, Texas, April 20, 2015 – Acrobatic gymnastics is wrapping up five days at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Committee Training Site, in Huntsville, Texas. Held April 14-20, the five-day session had 55 pair groups participate and was divided into a three-day training camp and two days of verification at the Acro Cup. Athletes at the camp are age eligible for the 2016 World Championships in Putain, China, and ranged from 11-16 through senior elite.

In preparation for verification, the elite coaches assisted athletes with their preparations. WOGA’s Christian Minnicks worked with the athletes on choreography. Five-time acro world champion Yevgeny Marchenko, also with WOGA, aided athletes with their skills. Tonya Case, acro’s national team coordinator and Elizabeth Millard, director of acrobatic gymnastics, organized and directed the camp.

Verification at the Arcro Cup involved having the athletes compete in an event system, with the goal of identifying future elite athletes for 2016 Worlds.
