Dear members of the USA Gymnastics Acro community:

Recently, the Acro Program Committee met in Houston, Texas during the World Championships Team selection camp. Among the topics discussed was the upcoming schedule of events and the need to participate in the Visa Championships. We also received feedback from the coaches during our discussions.

Given that the World Championships are held in July, just prior to our N.E.Q/J.O. Championships and that Visa Championships immediately followed in August, it was decided to combine our Elite Championships (Visa) with our JO Nationals to include all levels of national titles for the discipline. This will allow the entire discipline to celebrate its champions and for all of our athletes to participate in one event.

For this reason, we will not conduct an acro competition at the Visa Championships. In consultation with the USA Gymnastics staff, we have been assured, however, that acro gymnastics will be featured in exhibitions and demonstrations throughout the week at the Visa Championships. This will provide continued exposure of the discipline throughout the sport.

I encourage as many of you as possible to consider attending the National Congress in Hartford to participate in the many educational opportunities being offered.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this decision.

Sincerely,

Bob Meier
Chairman
Acrobatic Gymnastics Program Committee
