INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Jan. 9, 2008 — Fans get a glimpse of gymnastics’ future stars in the newest episode of “USA Gymnastics: Behind the Team,” the online series available only on the AT&T blue room Team USA site (www.attblueroom.com/teamusa). The episode focuses on TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program), where many of today’s top women’s gymnasts started their road to the U.S. National Team and spots on World and Olympic Teams. The 70 gymnasts who ranked at the top of the nearly 3,000 who participated in TOPs on the local, state and national testing are named to the TOPs National Team and participate in a camp at the Women’s National Training center, held at Bela and Martha Karolyi’s ranch in Huntsville, Texas.

Samantha Peszek of Indianapolis, Ind., and Shayla Worley of Orlando, Fla., close friends and teammates on the 2007 world gold-medal team, reminisce about when they first met as TOPs National Team members and shared a cabin.

The TOPS program is focused on the basics and tests on physical abilities and gymnastics skills. At the TOPS national team camp, the gymnasts learn about sports psychology and goal setting, as well as learn from the national coaching staff. Housed in cabins, gymnasts at the TOPs camp spend their free time playing outside and enjoying the wildlife at the ranch.
