HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Oct. 21, 2015 – Preparing for the 2016 Elite National Qualifiers was the focus for the 44 gymnasts attending the October developmental training camp for women’s gymnastics. Held at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, an U.S. Olympic Training site, the gymnasts demonstrated new skills, upgrades and bonus combinations.

Alyona Shchennikova of 5280 Gymnastics was first in the physical abilities rankings, followed by Adeline Kenlin of Iowa Gym Nest and Morgan Hurd of First State Gymnastics, respectively. Emily Lee of West Valley Gymnastics was chosen as most improved athlete.

The five-day camp was under the direction of Valeri Liukin, director of elite developmental athletes. The gymnasts and their coaches return in November for the next developmental camp. The developmental camps are by invitation only, which are determined by Liukin and the national coaching staff.
