HUNTSVILLE, Texas, March 17, 2015 – Forty-three gymnasts participated in the women’s developmental camp that just wrapped up at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center, at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training Site. Led by USA Gymnastics Developmental Team Coordinator Valeri Liukin, the five-day camp featured two training sessions each day and included both physical abilities testing and verification.

Eight athletes earned the optional qualifying score for the upcoming Hopes Classic, and three junior elite gymnastics qualified for the American Classic and the Secret U.S. Classic. International Gymnastics Federation Brevet judges Chelle Stack Marcella and Carole Bunge scored the routines for verification. Many athletes performed new and/or upgraded skills and combinations in their routines during verification.

For the physical abilities testing, Maile O’Keefe from Salcianu Academy of Gymnastics placed first, followed by Megan Freed of Parkettes and Shilese Jones from Buckeye Gymnastics. Konnor McClain of Revolution Gymnastics was selected most improved camper.

The next developmental camp is scheduled in May, prior to the Hopes Classic and American Classic.
