HARTFORD, Conn. – Nearly 100 athletes, including Olympic and World champions and medalists, are geared up to compete at this year’s U.S. Classic and Hopes Championships. PeopleBank Arena in downtown Hartford will host the action from July 17-18, when athletes will have their final chance to qualify for the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships August 6-9 in Phoenix, Arizona.
U.S. Classic features top junior and senior athletes as they seek either to qualify or hone their skills for the Xfinity U.S. Championships. A quartet of high-profile senior champions highlight the entrants for Saturday evening’s U.S. Classic: three-time Olympic medalist Jade Carey, five-time World Championship medalist Leanne Wong, two-time World team champion Skye Blakely, and two-time NCAA champion Katelyn Ohashi.
Other athletes to watch include 2026 Senior Pan American Championships team champion and uneven bars and balance beam silver medalist Simone Rose; 2025 U.S. balance beam bronze medalist Dulcy Caylor; and 2026 City of Jesolo Trophy team champion and bars bronze medalist Caroline Moreau.
Junior competition Saturday afternoon will feature the country’s up-and-coming young athletes, with 2026 Junior Pan American Championships all-around gold medalist Amia Pugh-Banks, 2026 Junior Pan Am Championships four-time apparatus medalist Addalye VanGrinsven, and Pan Am uneven bars champion Sydney Williams among the favorites.
The weekend in Hartford will kick off with the 2026 Hopes Championships on Friday, July 17. The Hopes Championships serve as the national championship event for Hopes athletes in two age divisions (11-12/13-14).
