INDIANAPOLIS, April 16, 2021 – The 2021 National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics Championships will be held April 16-17 at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn., while the National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships will take place over the same timeframe at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
The NCAA’s national championship events for both men’s and women’s gymnastics were cancelled in 2020 due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. On the women’s side, the No.1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners will look to defend their 2019 crown, led by AAI Award finalist Anastasia Webb. Meanwhile, the Stanford Cardinal, who are the reigning NCAA men’s team champions, enter the weekend ranked third in the nation behind Oklahoma and Michigan.
The men’s championships semifinal sessions will air live on BTN+ today at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET. Saturday’s finals will be broadcast on BTN at 8 p.m. ET. ESPN2 will carry the women’s semifinals today at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET. Finals will air on ABC Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Six teams will face off in each of two semifinal sessions with the top-three teams from each session advancing to the second day of competition. The top-three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top-three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or to the all-around will also advance to the finals on Saturday. The top-ranked Sooners are eyeing their fifth championship in six years, while 2019 all-around champion Brody Malone of Stanford will look to add more hardware to his collection.
