The 2013 Future Stars Camp took place in Lake Placid, N.Y., at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Thirty gymnasts participated in this year’s camp that was held September 11-15, 2013.

The camp this year was led by Future Stars Coordinator Brooke Bushnell Toohey and two World Champions, Mila Harty and Elena Vitrychenko (1996 Olympic bronze medalist) and National Team ballet instructor Sonya Yankova. The focus was on basic technique of the body and the equipment. By building a strong base, we are continuing to see improvements in the quality of our athletes at the elite level. The gymnasts enjoyed learning a fun and energetic dance routine, which they performed during a Future Stars show at the Olympic Training Center on the final evening.

The Future Stars camp continues to be a fun-filled learning experience for gymnasts and their coaches! The coaches and athletes worked well together with the staff to create a productive and positive atmosphere. There is great pride in the work that was done and the staff was thrilled to see everyone leave the camp happy and motivated to go home and work on all they learned. We thank the staff for the knowledge and energy they brought to the camp and wish everyone good luck in the 2014 competition season. We hope to see you at next year’s Future Stars Test!
