INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., June 21, 2010 – Top U.S. acrobatic gymnasts will perform demonstrations and exhibitions during the 2010 Visa Championships, Aug. 10-14, in Hartford, Conn.

Based on input from gymnasts and coaches, the Acrobatic Gymnastics Program Committee has decided to hold the national championships for both the elite and Junior Olympic levels in one competition, rather than have a separate elite competition at the Visa Championships. The U.S. Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships, July 24-28, in Kissimmee, Fla., will determine the national champions for all levels, from junior and senior elite to Junior Olympics.

The change was made based on what is best for the athletes. The timing between the World Championships in mid-July and the Visa Championships would require athletes to peak in mid-July and again in early August, which was a training challenge. Many of the elite gymnasts were already going to be in Kissimmee.

Information on the scheduled demonstrations will be available closer to the Visa Championships.
