    Saturday’s results posted after each session

ATLANTA, Ga., April 18, 2009 – Team, all-around and individual event finals at the 2009 National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC) National Championships are Saturday, April 18, at 11:50 a.m. ET at Emory University’s Woodruff Physical Education Center in Atlanta, Ga. Qualifying competition for the NAIGC National Championships, which is for club gymnastics teams, was April 16-17.

Six schools will compete in the women’s team finals: James Madison University, Miami University, Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Pittsburgh and Texas A&M University. Four men’s teams advanced to the finals: SUNY Brockport, James Madison University, Pennsylvania State University and University of Texas.

 

The women advanced to the finals as follows:

  • the top team from each session, plus the next two highest-scoring teams from all sessions, for a total of eight
  • the top three all-around gymnasts from each session, plus the next five highest-scoring athletes from all sessions, for a total of 23
  • the top three gymnasts on each event from each session, plus the next five highest-scoring individuals from all sessions, for a total of 23 on each event

The men advanced to the finals as follows:

  • the top two teams from each session, plus the next two highest-scoring teams from all sessions, for a total of six
  • the top five all-around gymnasts from each session, plus the next five highest-scoring athletes from all sessions, for a total of 15
  • the top five gymnasts on each event from each session, plus the next five highest-scoring individuals from all sessions, for a total of 15 on each event

The women competed in all six qualifying sessions, with the men only participating in the third and sixth sessions.
