INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., June 13, 2008 – The USA’s top athletes in group gymnastics will compete at the 2008 TeamGym National Championships, June 13-14 at Go For It USA in North Las Vegas, Nev. Forty-six squads qualified for the TeamGym National Championships by earning qualifying scores at state and regional competitions.

TeamGym is a competitive version of group gymnastics in which squads of six to 16 athletes perform together in two events, group floor exercise and group jump. TeamGym has four difficulty levels: A, B, C and D.

The event opens on Friday, June 13, with the opening ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The competition schedule on Saturday, June 14, is: Level A, first session at 8:10 a.m. and second session at 10:30 a.m.; Level B, first session at 1:30 p.m. and second session at 3:40 p.m.; Level C and D at 7 p.m.

Group gymnastics, known officially by the FIG as Gymnastics for All, is one of the eight gymnastics sport disciplines officially recognized by gymnastics organizations worldwide. This diverse sport program provides opportunities and activities for all ages and levels of abilities. Group gymnastics activities contribute to the development of general sports skills, fitness, health, important movement patterns and daily life skills.
