Indianapolis – Due to scheduling conflicts, USA Gymnastics has changed the dates of the 2002 Rhythmic Group World Championships. The event, originally scheduled for July 19-21, will now take place July 12-14 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La.

Up to 40 nations are expected to contend for the title of group world champion. 2000 Olympic medalists Russia, Belarus and Greece are expected to compete along with a strong United States team. The U.S. rhythmic group team is currently training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY.
USA Gymnastics will partner with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation to host the event. New Orleans previously hosted the 2000 Reese’s Gymnastics Cup and the 1995 Coca-Cola National Championships.
