Four-Time U.S. National Champion Blaine Wilson Scheduled to CompeteFor Release – Feb. 4, 2000

 

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Winter Cup Challenge is February 11-12, at the Pepsi AllSport Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. to identify top male U.S. Olympic hopefuls.

Highlighting the competition are members of the 1999 World Championships Team, including John Roethlisberger (Minneapolis, Minn.), two-time Olympian; Stephen McCain (Houston, Texas); Yewki Tomita (Tucson, Ariz.) Sean Townsend (Houston, Texas); and Jay Thornton (Augusta, Ga.).
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top six all-around finishers, with $3,000 going to the all-around champion. Individual event medalists receive prize money, with $500 going to the winner of each of the six events. The top 36 all-around scores from Friday advance to the all-around finals on Saturday evening.

Winter Cup Challenge Schedule

Feb. 11 – Preliminary All-Around and Individual Event Finals
Session I – 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Session II – 8:00-10:00 p.m.

Feb. 12 – All Around Finals: Top 36 from Preliminary All-Around

Session III – 8:00-10:00 p.m.
Tickets for the Winter Cup Challenge are $15 for the Winter Cup finals on Saturday, $15 for Friday’s Winter Cup prelims and the Blackjack sessions.
