INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 23, 2015 – Fourteen gymnasts and seven coaches participated in the 2015 Ricky Deci Memorial Camp held recently at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The annual camp is funded by the Ricky Deci Foundation, which was established by the Deci family and includes Hideo Mizoguchi, Ricky Deci’s coach who serves as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Modeled after the U.S. Men’s National Team camps, the four-day camp provides the gymnasts with the opportunity to train along side the USOTC Men’s Resident Team Program, which includes U.S. Senior Men’s National Team members, and experience the same training curriculum. The athletes receive instruction from the country’s top elite coaches, as well as attend clinic presentations on specific event topics and meetings to discuss national team goals. Interaction of the various levels of the national team program provides motivation and helps keep top athletes at each level engaged.

The Ricky Deci Foundation provides funding for athletes who are potential U.S. National Team athletes in the junior men’s program. Funding is provided to enable 14 athletes to attend the annual, one-week camp at the USOTC to train as part of a national team developmental program. To be invited to attend the camp held each fall, athletes must place seventh through 12th in the Level 8 Junior Elite Division, 11th through 16th in the Level 9 Junior Elite Division, and 11th and 12th in the Level 10 (15-16) Junior Elite Division at the U.S. Junior Olympic Men’s Championships.
