Question: Is doing over-splits really necessary for artistic gymnasts? It seems like the ligaments are being stretched too much. |

Gymnastics training involves a great deal of stretching. The term over-splits can be misunderstood. It is not a good idea to over stress a ligament, however, the muscles that surround the area may need extra range over-splits of flexibility in order to achieve the best results. |
