T&T JumpStart Sample Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

Your child has been chosen to participate in the USA Gymnastic Trampoline & Tumbling JumpStart Program. JumpStart is fashioned after gymnastics' talent identification programs that have been producing many of the country's strongest gymnasts for the past several years. JumpStart athletes will have a head start on the rest of the nation's trampolinists/tumblers.

The main objectives for this program are:

  • To identify talented trampolinists/tumblers between 7 and 12 years old
  • To enhance the information flow and educational opportunities to talented athletes, their parents and their coaches in order to help improve the athlete's training
  • To provide a fitness program that can be inclusive for all trampoline and tumbling athletes at the club level
  • To serve as a "fast track" for young trampolinists/tumblers from the early years of training through the international level

The benefits of participating in the JumpStart Program at the club level include improved strength, flexibility, speed and overall fitness, thereby increasing the rate of progression and minimizing the risk of injury.

Athletes who meet the minimum testing requirements will progress to the state and national level of the JumpStart Program. The final event of the season will be a JumpStart National Team Training Camp that will include the most fit and talented young trampolinists and tumblers in the country. At the Camp, athletes will spend valuable time in the gym with members of the National Coaching Staff.

The JumpStart athletes from this club will practice once a week in addition to their regular training sessions. The weekly JumpStart practice session will be held on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. In addition, there will be extra expenses for travel to state and/or national testing sites. We realize that this will be an extra commitment for you and your child, but we are confident that it will be worth the extra effort.
