2004 Flanders International Cup

The United States delegation had a great showing at the 2004 Flanders International Acro Cup held in Puurs, Belgium. The USA was well represented by a Mixed Pair (Michael Rodrigues, Linay Mitchell) and a Trio (Carley Faucheux, Julie DuPree, Amanda Richard) in the senior division and by three Trios (Kelly Topp, Angela Hatch, Mariah Henninger / Alanna Weisberg, Tami Annonson, Lindsey Zupancic / Kelsey May, Devin Shackelford, Ravenne Eschette) in the junior division.

This year Belgium hosted almost 300 athletes representing 15 counties in the competition. Participating countries included: Belgium, Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Germany, Israel, South Africa, Russia, Portugal, Kazakhstan, and USA.

In the Senior Mixed Pairs category, the USA mixed pair did an excellent job hitting all four of the routines they competed. In finals, Michael and Linay finished in third place, claiming a bronze medal.

Carley, Julie, and Amanda showed off their exciting choreography and difficult skills in the Senior Women's Trios competition. The trio qualified to finals and finished strongly in fourth place.

The Junior Women's Trios was the largest competition category with over 30 trios competing. All three of the USA's trios did a wonderful job. They all hit each of their exercises and qualified to finals. It was great to see all three of the trios finish in the top eight.

Prior to the competition the USA delegation took the opportunity to enjoy sightseeing in Belgium. We toured downtown Antwerp and journeyed to the city of Bruges. The pictures below show some of the sights of Belgium.

Congratulations to all of the USA's athletes and delegation officials. The hard work and cooperation of the entire delegation made the trip very enjoyable and successful!
