Unless otherwise noted, page and section references are to 2010 Junior Olympic Code of Points for Acrobatic Gymnastics.

1) GENERAL:

  1. When to give the .9 time fault deduction when a trio or pair is constructing a skill and it slips and falls.

    • The JO Code, P69 3.1.5 it states ..."After the base and/or middle is in place, any slip or fall would receive a time fault of 0.9 and other appropriate technical deductions according to ... In both situations, the element may be repeated for difficulty credit."

    • It should read, “After the first partner is in place, a "slip" or fall will receive a time fault of 0.9." It does not matter whether it is the top and base or the middle and base in place.

  2. It is not considered additional support in foot to hand positions and hand to hand positions - when the bases hands are touching the shoulders. There should not be a deduction taken in these instances, it is considered normal technique.

2) JR. 11-16:

  1. World Age Group Competition Compulsory Elements Table page 10 - WG Row IV which used to show a pike and a layout position, now shows only a layout drawn. Pike or layout is acceptable.

  2. FIG 2010-2012 Rules for Age Group Competitions

    • 6.6 (Pairs) Which currently states as follows: Only 2 dismounts are allowed for difficulty. The landing of ALL Pair / Group elements must be supported. If the landing from a Pair / Group is performed without support, a 1.0 penalty is applied for each occurrence. One additional dismount can be performed as an optional element.

3) LEVELS 8 – ELITE:

  1. In skills such as candlestick in pairs/groups, it is not considered additional support if in the hand to hand grip the fingers are touching the floor. The skill should be given credit, this is simply the technique of the skill.

  2. In skills where handstands or straddles are being performed on the top of the bases feet, it is not considered additional support if the middle or top’s hands are touching the floor. The skill should be given credit; this is simply the technique of the skill.

4) TABLES OF DIFFICULTY – Updates to the Tables of Difficulty are effective immediately. Refer to the FIG Acro Newsletters for new element evaluations and updates to the FIG Tables of Difficulty. These newsletters can be found on the FIG website: www.fig-gymnastics.com under Home > Acrobatic > Newsletters >. FIG CLARIFICATIONS – Clarifications are effective at the 2010 Junior Olympic National Championships and Visa Championships or unless otherwise noted in italics.

5) GENERAL
All landings must be supported for Jr. 11-16’s pairs/groups. This includes not only dismounts but dynamic elements (ie. Back tuck over head). This is effective immediately for the Jr. 11-16 age group. For level 8 and below this will not go into effect until next season, 2010-2011.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q1: For level 7, coaches are required to put individual elements on the form. They can choose 1 element, or they can put up to 3 elements on to the form. What happens if athletes do an element that is approved for the level, but it is not on the form?

A1: Because this is the compulsory level, credit is given. However, coaches should make every effort to ensure the diagrams are correct. This penalty would apply to L8 and above.
